Pin Grading Guide

ENAMEL PIN GRADING

Enamel pins are filled & finished by hand, which often results in various differences in each pin. Very few, if any, pins will ever be "perfect." Each pin is slightly unique, and that's where pin grading comes in!

All pins we sell are either Standard (A) or Seconds (B) Grade, the differences of which are discussed below. Please note that we do not sell any Perfect/Collector's Grade pins at this time.

If you have any questions, please contact us!

STANDARD GRADE PINS

Standard Grade, or "A Grade" pins, are the default grade of pin we sell in our shop. All pin listings are for Standard Grade unless specified otherwise. All Standard Grade pins come attached to a backer card (unless specified otherwise).

These pins are the highest quality pin we offer. Free from any major imperfections, they may still show the following:

    • Very minor bubbles, dirt, or scratches on enamel
    • Very minor bubbles or scratches on metal plating
    • Very slight uneven enamel filling
    • Minor imperfections on the backside of the pin
    • Stray or darker glitter specks (in glitter pins only)
    • Slightly misaligned screenprint details
    • All "imperfections" on Standard Grade pins are only visible upon very close inspection and/or upon examining the pin under certain lighting or at specific angles.

SECONDS GRADE PINS

Seconds Grade, or "B Grade" pins, are pins that have noticeable flaws. We only sell Seconds Grade pins from time to time in our shop, and they are marked as such and discounted due to the flaws. All Seconds Grade pins do not come attached to a backer card (unless specified otherwise).

Seconds Grade pins include any one or more of the following:

  • Noticeable bubbles, dirt, or scratches on enamel / in visually important areas
  • Noticeable bubbles, oxidization or scratches on metal plating
  • Uneven enamel filling
  • Missing areas of enamel filling
  • Very misaligned screenprint details / in visually important areas
  • By purchasing a Seconds Grade pin, you are acknowledging that you are purchasing a less-than-perfect item.
